Setup and Launch
Line the players up in a backline facing the audience. Explain the single rule: when inspired, step forward and deliver one complete analogy using the formula "Sex with me is like [suggestion]..." β then step back. No setups, no explanations, just the punchline.
Ask the audience for a simple suggestion β an everyday object, a place, or a profession. Set the tone: we're going for wit, not shock. The goal is clever metaphor, not graphic detail. Agree on a host signal (bell, clap) to rotate suggestions.
Sample introduction to the audience: "Our players are going to line up, and we'll get suggestions of objects. They'll step forward and tell you why sex with them is like that object."
Flow
-
Start and pace: call out the suggestion and gesture to the line. Players step forward whenever they have something β no fixed order needed. Keep the rhythm brisk: step forward, deliver, step back. Dead air kills the game.
-
Turns and momentum: one line at a time, no interrupting each other. If someone freezes, the next player jumps in immediately. After 3-5 strong hits on one suggestion, grab a new one from the audience.
-
Specificity and heightening: push for concrete properties of the suggestion rather than generic gags. With "pineapple" as a suggestion, "juicy" is fine but "after a while it makes your tongue go funny" is better β it finds a real, specific property and twists it. Each new attempt should find a different angle: literal, metaphorical, or wordplay.
-
Edit: the moment repeats start or laughs thin out, grab a new suggestion immediately. If someone just landed a killer line, that's the ideal moment to switch β end on a high.
Key rules
Watch the boundaries: the focus is metaphor and wit β no attacks on identities or graphic descriptions. The funny dies the moment it gets mean or crude.
Fight the obvious: steer players away from lazy clichΓ©s toward the suggestion's actual properties and wordplay. "Sex with me is like a pineapple: not really worth the effort" works because it finds a real quality of pineapples, not a generic dirty joke.
One line only: no "because" clauses, no rambling explanations. The joke must land in a single beat β 1-2 phrases max. If it needs a setup, it's too long.
Pace is everything: if there's a pause longer than 2-3 seconds or laughs drop twice in a row, instantly move to the next player or grab a new suggestion. Step forward even without a perfect idea β commitment often sells a mediocre line.
No repeats: if an analogy or angle has already been used, cut it immediately and demand a fresh take, or switch the suggestion entirely.
