Morning

A paired warmup for reading the situation through physical actions and care for the partner: participants "wake up" in the same bed, silently explore the circumstances, and only then use their first lines to confirm reality and relationships.

Duration

3–5 min per pair

Full description

Setup and Launch

Place two chairs side by side: the sitters imitate people lying in the same bed. Show the seating: legs extended, torso leaning on the edge of the seat and the back, eyes closed. Announce the goal: without words, determine through indirect signs who we are, where we are, and what happened before waking up; we begin speaking only after behavior has already suggested the answers.

How It Works

  1. Sleep and silence. Participants take the sleeping position and hold a brief pause of complete silence, not moving or speaking.

  2. Waking without words. Gradually "wake up" and act as characters: gaze, facial expression, everyday gestures, attempting to get up or stay, loudly/quietly, whether to look at each other — all of this should suggest the situation, relationships, and location.

  3. First lines. Move to speech when reality is already readable from the actions. The first 2–3 phrases clarify it rather than create it anew. Speak as characters, avoid meta-questions ("Who are you?", "Where am I?") and info-dumps ("Don't you remember..."). If the partner breaks into explanations, hold a pause, strengthen your own character, and return attention to behavior without overloading with "facts".

Key rules

  • Start in complete silence: behavior first, then words.

  • Speak as the character, not as the "scene author"; avoid meta-questions and info-dumps.

  • If the partner goes into explanations, hold a pause and strengthen your own character without feeding them "facts".

  • Let the first 2–3 lines merely confirm the reality already read from the actions.
