Full description

Setup and Launch

Break the group into pairs and position participants facing each other. Explain the goal: to maintain an ordinary, plausible conversation in everyday language. Here we're not looking for comedy or tragedy — the simplest phrases from real, everyday situations will do. The task is to sustain such a conversation for as long as possible.

How It Works

  1. Starting the conversation: pairs immediately enter into dialogue on any everyday topic, as in real life.

  2. Language: use simple, familiar phrasing and ordinary lines from everyday situations.

  3. Tone: don't aim for the funny or tragic — avoid artificial "performance" heightening.

  4. Duration: maintain a plausible dialogue for as long as possible without forcing events.

Key rules

  • Speak the way you would in real life — without invented conflicts or gags.

  • Rely on simple, everyday phrasing and familiar life situations.

  • Maintain a natural pace and tone; don't raise the stakes for effect.

  • Listen to your partner and respond to the point so the conversation can continue longer.
